GETTING TO KNOW OUR BELOVED PROPHET

As we have known, our beloved prophet is Muhammad, he was born in Mecca on Monday, 12th Rabi'ul Awwal in The Elephant Year, but his father, Abdullah, had died before he was born to the world. His lineage was Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul Muthalib bin Hasyim bin Abdi Manaf bin Qushai bin Kilab. Then his mother, Aminah, sent him to his grandfather, Abdul Muthalib, so that he took and brought him to do thawaf around the Ka'bah, and called him Muhammad. Muhammad means the glorified one. Muhammad was offered to women from Bani Sa'ad who wanted to suckle him, but they refused, it was just because he was an orphan child. Yet Halimah Sa'diyah (one of them) had no child to suckle. They agreed to come back to their village, so Halimah had to take the orphan child. The child made Halimah's family blessed and even all inhabitants of Bani Sa'ad. Muhammad lived with his mother after he came back from Bani Sa'ad. When he was 6 years old, he went with his mother to visit his uncles from Bani 'Adi Bin Najjar at Yatsrib (Madinah), then his mother died in Abwa and was buried there.
Afterward he was brought up by his grandfather till his grandfather died. After his grandfather died, his uncle, Abu Thalib, toke over his bringing up. When Muhammad was 12 years old his uncle invited him to go to Syam for business case. When the group of business reached Busra village, they met a Protestant Clergyman called Bahira.
When Muhammad was 25 years old, he went to Syam bringing merchandises of Khadijah. He was accompanied with the servant of Khadijah named Maisarah. When they came back to Mecca, Maisarah told Khadijah about attributes of Muhammad. Afterward she was attracted in Muhammad, and not long after that Muhammad married her.
When he was 35 years old, the Ka'bah was damaged caused by a great flood. Therefore the tribe of Quraisy wanted to rebuild it. But they differed in deciding the proper man who should put the Black Stone. And then Muhammad could solve the problem successfully, therefore he was surnamed with Al Amin (the Trusted One). Muhammad was raised to be prophet and messenger of Allah when he was 40 years old. He received the first revelation from Allah through archangel Gabriel when he was doing tahannuts, in other words, when he was meditating in a cave called al Hira' in the Mountain of Light (Jabal al-Nur) near Mecca, that Muhammad experienced the presence of the archangel Gabriel and the process of the Qur'anic revelation began and continued approximately for 22 years, 2 months and 22 days. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) stayed in Mecca for 23 years and then migrated to Yatsrib and stayed there for 10 years.
Since attendance of Propphet Muhammad, Yatsrib was called Madinatun Nabi which later should be more famous with Madinah only.
Our beloved prophet (pbuh) passed away in the beginning of Rabi'ul Awwal, 11 Hijriah, when he was 63 years old. May Allah gather us with him in His heaven. Amin.
